# What does GeoMono measure?

> A GeoMono measurement puts the questions buyers ask to AI engines, records every answer and counts whether your brand is named in those answers.

GeoMono measures how often and how your brand is named in AI answers. It asks engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews the questions a buyer might ask, records every answer exactly as it comes back, and then reads those answers one by one.

## What does a measurement count?

Three things are checked for each answer:

- **Was your brand named?** If your name appears in the answer, that is a mention. If it does not, that is a result too: a measured "not named".
- **Who was named instead of you?** The other brands and organisations that appear in the same answer are recorded.
- **Which sources were seen?** The links the engine shows alongside the answer are listed separately.

Results are first written as a pair of numbers, for example "3 of 142 answers". That way it is always visible how many answers a rate rests on, and a rate calculated from a handful of answers is not read as a large measurement.

## Which engines are measured?

The engines measured can change from one measurement to the next. The header of every report states how many engines and how many questions that measurement used; check that number when you read a report. ## What does GeoMono not measure?

- It does not measure your ranking in search engines or your site's traffic.
- It does not prove why AI names you. What it shows is what was observed together.
